Whisky at Glenfarclas distillery, Ballindalloch has been lovingly produced by six generations of the Grant family since it was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay. Glenfarclas means 'valley of the green grass' a perfect name for a distillery set in beautiful meadows and drawing its water from the Green Burn that flows from Ben Rinnes. There are a number of tours available including the Classic Tour (1 hour 30 minutes and includes a couple of drams), Connoisseurs Tour and Tasting (2 hours 15 minutes and includes a tour of the distillery and warehouses, a tasting of a selection of four of the Grant family's favourites) and the Five Decades Tour and Tasting (2 hours 15 minutes and includes a tour of the distillery and warehouses, a tasting of five whiskies from The Family Cask Collection, with one from each decade from the 1960s to the 2000s).
