Craigievar Castle
Aberdeenshire
This fairytale pink castle now managed by the National Trust was the home of the Clan Sempill and the Forbes family for 350 years and provided the inspiration for Disney's Cinderella. The castle is nestled among the picture-postcard hills of Aberdeenshire, six miles south of Alford and kids and adults alike will be instantly won-over by its charming, magical quality. Home to an impressive collection of artefacts and art, including Raeburns, armour and weapons, guided tours of the house run daily from April to December, and are scheduled on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 10 on each tour. Tours run approximately every 30 minutes. There are two waymarked trails around the castle grounds with a wide variety of plants and animals to see.
